Welcome to West Valley College’s School of Health and Human Development

Our school offers coursework that examines the disciplines of Kinesiology, Health Science, Nutrition Studies, Health Care Technologies, and Intercollegiate Athletics. Our dedicated Faculty and Staff are highly trained professionals and considered experts in their field. They are committed to the College’s mission of supporting students along their pathways to reach transfer and career goals in an environment of academic excellence.

We offer an AA and AA-T in Kinesiology, an AS-T in Nutrition and Dietetics, an AS in Medical Assistant, and 11 Certificate degrees. We will soon be offering an AS-T in Public Health Science, as well.

Most career opportunities in Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Health Science require a Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree; however, those receiving certificates in Personal Training, Pilates Instructor, or one of the many certificates offered through Healthcare Technology may find work immediately upon completion.

Graduates of the School of Health and Human Development can enjoy careers such as community center leader, health and safety director, industrial recreation leader, playground director, recreation specialist, personal trainer, Pilates instructor, medical assistant, orthopedic technician, insurance billing specialist, clinical assistant, and medical office receptionist. Recipients of an Associate’s Degree may elect to go on to pursue additional education to obtain advanced degrees in Athletic Training, Dietetics, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology, or Health Administration, to name a few.

Our classes are offered in both day and evening, as well as online, to provide students a quality education that meets their needs.

I encourage you to explore the different programs we offer and contact our department chairs, coaches, and counselors if you have any questions.

          Go Vikings!
